Why this project?

The allure of holidays abroadis becoming less popular due to many reasons:

  • The impact flights have on our environment is becoming increasingly noticed with organisations such as Flight Free UK growing;
  • As the British weather has warmer summers and colder winters (a side effect of climate change), we don’t necessarily need to travel further afield to experience the ‘extreme’ weather that draws us south;
  • Thanks to TV programmes, such as David Attenborough’s Wild Isles, people are falling back in love with landscape closer to home; and,
  • With more financial pressure being put on households to cover the cost of living expenses, a costly holiday isn’t always possible.

And, we are lucky that Britain offers a vast array of cheap, exciting and varied holiday options to cater to our comfort and curiosities, with Big Sky Hideaway being one venue that allows us to dis-connect from our routine, stay in a variety of accommodation styles – including a converted school bus(!) – and re-connect to nature.

What is Big Sky Hideaway?

The ethos behind Big Sky Hideaway is to tread lightly, and they’re working towards a 100% renewable powered space.

With accommodation ranging from a tent in a field to glamorous glamping and even a converted school bus for group bookings, every range of comfort is catered for.

I personally like their their motto “Hurry slowly“. We need to learn to slow down, to notice the flowers and ferns we’re passing as well as how we feel: Our breathing, the way the grass touches our toes and the sun (or raindrops) kissing our skin.

What can I do to get involved?
