What is world refill day and Why is it important?
World Refill Day is a global day of action to prevent plastic pollution and help people live with less waste.
As a global movement, we have the power to create a wave of change. By choosing to reuse, we’re saving millions of pieces of plastic and sending a message to the rest of the world that the solutions to plastic pollution and the climate crisis are there – and together we can keep our environment, oceans, cities and communities plastic-free for the future.
Whether you’re a brand or business, a campaigner, a community group or an everyday activist there a so many ways you can take action this World Refill Day.
What can i do to get involved
- Choose to reuse: Switch single-use coffee cups or water bottles to long-life material alternatives
- Get creative with your food purchases: Seek out markets and zero waste shops where you can avoid buying plastic-wrapped pasta, rice and other dry goods and refill a jar you can replenish
- Use water refill stations: While travelling, refill your water bottle at a local station using the City 2 Sea app and avoid having to buy a single-use plastic water bottle
Remember, it’s not about being perfect but about introducing sustainable changes in your daily routine that help move towards reducing our waste footprint.
