50 projects,
1 mission

On World Environment Day, I left my home and job to cycle around mainland Britain on a handmade bamboo bike.

Over the course of three months, I travelled across mainland Britain meeting communities, organisations, schools, charities, businesses and innovators already creating positive environmental change.

Climate Cycle became more than an endurance challenge. It evolved into a living exploration of behaviour change, sustainability, community action and collective hope.

Why Climate Cycle matters

Like many people, I had become increasingly overwhelmed by the scale of the climate crisis and disconnected from the belief that meaningful change was still possible.

Climate Cycle was created to explore a different narrative.

Instead of focusing solely on problems, the project set out to uncover the people, ideas and communities already building practical solutions — and ask a bigger question:

How do we inspire more people to take meaningful action?

The impact

Climate Cycle was far more than an endurance challenge.

It became a large-scale storytelling and behaviour change campaign designed to inspire more people into meaningful environmental action through optimism, participation and human connection.

Over 90 days, the project involved extensive route planning, partnership building, community engagement, media outreach and collaboration with organisations, schools, charities, businesses and sustainability initiatives across Britain.

Rather than simply talking about climate change, Climate Cycle focused on making action feel accessible, practical and deeply human.

More than 150 people joined sections of the ride throughout the journey — some for an hour, others for multiple days — transforming the campaign into a shared experience rather than a solo challenge.

Along the route, over 50 sustainability projects and organisations were visited, documented and amplified through online storytelling, interviews, photography, social media and the subsequent Climate Cycle book, helping generate greater visibility for the work already happening across the country.

The campaign demonstrated how ambitious ideas, strong storytelling and meaningful partnerships can mobilise communities, spark conversation and create tangible impact.
